Prurigo nodularis je dlouhotrvající kožní onemocnění charakterizované mnoha pevnými hrbolky a uzly, které se obvykle nacházejí na vnějších částech paží a nohou. Tyto hrbolky se mohou lišit v barvě od masové po růžovou a intenzivně svědí. Mohou postihnout lidi jakéhokoli věku a často jsou spojeny s jinými kožními onemocněními, které způsobují chronické svědění, jako je atopická dermatitida. Možnosti léčby zahrnují silné léky proti svědění, léky ovlivňující imunitní systém a léky zaměřené na nervový systém. Léčba prurigo nodularis obvykle zahrnuje dlouhodobou terapii.
Prurigo nodularis is a chronic disorder of the skin that is classically seen as multiple, firm, flesh to pink colored papules, plaques and nodules commonly located on the extensor surfaces of the extremities. The lesions are very pruritic and can occur in any age group. It is commonly associated with another disease such as atopic dermatitis or any dermatoses associated with chronic pruritus. The therapeutic approach is wide-arrayed ranging from treatments that act as - potent antipruritics, immunomodulators, and neuromodulators. Treatment in an established case is prolonged and improving patient compliance with education and counseling is important.

Léčba obvykle zahrnuje použití krémů nebo injekcí steroidů na postiženou oblast. V závažnějších nebo tvrdohlavých případech může být zapotřebí léčba, jako je světelná terapie nebo léky, které potlačují imunitní systém. Thalidomid a lenalidomid jsou možnosti pro těžké případy, ale mohou mít vážné vedlejší účinky. Novější léčby (opioid receptor antagonists, neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists) jsou slibné v léčbě prurigo nodularis s menším počtem vedlejších účinků ve srovnání s thalidomidem nebo lenalidomidem.
Treatment typically relies on the use of topical or intralesional steroids, though more severe or recalcitrant cases often necessitate the use of phototherapy or systemic immunosuppressives. Thalidomide and lenalidomide can both be used in severe cases; however, their toxicity profile makes them less favorable. Opioid receptor antagonists and neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists represent two novel families of therapeutic agents which may effectively treat PN with a lower toxicity profile than thalidomide or lenalidomide.

Chronic prurigo je kožní onemocnění charakterizované dlouhotrvajícím svěděním (trvajícím více než 6 týdnů) , kožními lézemi souvisejícími s poškrábáním a častými škrábanci v anamnéze. Zahrnuje neurozánět a fibrózu v kůži.

Prurigo nodularis je dlouhotrvající kožní problém poznamenaný svědivými uzly. Nevíme přesně, co to způsobuje, ale zdá se, že imunitní a nervové problémy hrají roli v cyklu svědění-škrábání. V současné době neexistuje žádná léčba schválená americkým FDA speciálně pro prurigo nodularis.
Prurigo nodularis is a long-lasting skin problem marked by itchy nodules. We don't know exactly what causes it, but it seems that immune and nerve issues play a role in the itch-scratch cycle. Right now, there aren't any treatments approved by the US FDA specifically for prurigo nodularis.
